Job Title: Assistant Football Coach - Special Teams Coordinator

Status: Full-Time, Benefit Eligible

Rate: $55,000

Location: Lisle Campus

Position Summary: This position is responsible for assisting the football program with the recruitment and retention of student-athletes while working to ensure the best student experience possible for the members of the Benedictine University Football Program.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Assist the football program with the identification and successful recruitment of qualified student athletes to help place the program in a position of competitive leadership in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

2. Responsible for coaching and mentoring a position group as well as assisting with film breakdown, developing and implementing scouting reports, game and practice plans, and coaching in all traditional and non-traditional segments that will place the program in a position of competitive leadership in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

3. Responsible for assisting the head coach, program, and university personnel with the retention of student athletes. this includes social and academic support, meeting regularly with the members of your assigned position group to monitor their academic progress to ensure players are investing the time and effort required to be successful in the classroom.

4. Provide instruction in technique and safety procedures in adherence with NCAA regulations and Sports Performance expectations in the declared playing and practice seasons.

Other Functions:

1. Positively promote Benedictine University and the Department of Athletics on campus and in the community.

2. Adherence to all Benedictine University policies and procedures.

3. Strong leadership, administrative, planning and presentation skills, including oral and written communications.

4. Attend departmental and University related meetings and events.

5. Maintain a high level of organization and ability to manage multiple tasks.

6. Maintain a positive student athlete assessment program for student athletes.

7. Work in coordination with University offices and departments to coordinate and facilitate University events.

8. Serve on University, conference and national committees as needed.

9. Ability to attain goals through knowledge of regulation and accreditation requirements, as well as incorporate best practices into initiatives.

10. Maintain positive relationships with alumni, parents, students, officials, volunteers and fans.

11. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations and matters with diplomacy and superior judgement.

12. Ability to complete high-level analysis of data, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree Required. Master's Degree Preferred.

Experience: Previous collegiate coaching and recruiting experience at the Division III level preferred. Previous coordinator experience desired.

Specific Skills: Organizational skills, writing and typing skills, interpersonal skills, data entry and budget management skills and demonstrated supervisory skills. Valid Driver's License required. CPR/First Aid/ AED certification required.

Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications: Knowledge of NCAA Division III philosophy, recruitment, rules and regulations.

Physical Requirements: Ability to handle varying levels of stress while maintaining a professional demeanor. Possible lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching and stooping. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun/heat or cold weather. Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand. Understand the speech of another person. See details of objects that are less than a few feet away or are more than a few feet away. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. General customer service and office environment.

Travel (if applicable): Yes - Ability to travel with the team; for recruiting purposes and for professional development will be required.

Supervisory Responsibility (if applicable): Yes - Student Workers if needed.

Working Conditions: Office and outdoor environment. Nights and weekends are required.

Training: As a University employee you are required to complete all University-specific and/or OSHA related training to fulfill your job duties. Specific training will be conducted online or in person. Employees must complete all training required by Benedictine University.
