Camden News is seeking a Director of Local News and Sports to lead and manage the newsrooms local news and high school sports coverage.The Director will oversee news and sports assignments, supervise staff,maintain high editorial standards, and foster strong community relationships.This role provides strategic direction to ensure content is accurate, relevant,and engaging. Responsibilities include setting editorial priorities, upholdingjournalistic standards, assigning, editing, and approving news and sportsstories, as well as supervising, mentoring, and evaluating reporters andeditors. The Director will oversee content accuracy, fairness, andcompleteness; direct the layout and production of sports and news sections;build relationships with local coaches, school officials, and communityleaders; integrate multimedia elements into coverage; and represent theorganization at events.

Requirements include a bachelors degree in journalism,communications, or a related fieldor equivalent experiencealong with five ormore years in news and/or sports journalism, including leadership roles. Theideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, andeditorial skills; possess knowledge of media law and ethical journalism; haveexperience with digital publishing and multimedia; and be flexible enough towork evenings and weekends and to travel locally.
