Job Summary
Directs and plans goals for a competitive NCAA Division I Men's Tennis program in accordance with University, conference, and NCAA rules and procedures; recruits and develops student-athletes, as well as committing to student-athlete personal and academic welfare; committing to gender and ethnic diversity; participates in support of development of marketing and fund-raising activities, public and media relations activities; oversees practices, competition, assistant coaches, and budget (including scholarships, travel, equipment, etc.)
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs coaching and recruiting duties.
- Fields a competitive team.
- Complies with NCAA and conference rules and regulations, and department plans.
- Demonstrates effectiveness of public relations, media relations, and people skills.
- Demonstrates effectiveness in monitoring student-athlete academic progress, retention, and graduation.
- Sets and accomplishes program goals.
- Effectively maintains budget, organizational skills and student-athlete involvement.
- Maintains effective working relationship with department support staff and other university personnel.
- Demonstrates effectiveness in maintaining discipline and control of student-athletes and program.
- Effectiveness in management of scholarships.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in kinesiology, sport performance, sport coaching, sport management, exercise science or other related field; minimum three years of NCAA coaching experience in the sport of tennis. Demonstrated program success and skill in developing and motivating student-athletes academically and athletically or demonstrated successful head coaching experience at the collegiate level.
