Anticipated Seasonal stipend $650 - $1150 for each season (depending on experience)

Position Summary
Re-1 Valley School District is seeking a positive, energetic, and student-centered Assistant Cheerleading Coach to support the cheerleading program during the fall and winter athletic seasons. The Assistant Coach will work collaboratively with the Head Cheerleading Coach to promote school spirit, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and skill development while maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all student-athletes.
The Assistant Cheerleading Coach will assist with practices, game and event supervision, routines, skill development, conditioning, and overall program organization in alignment with district and CHSAA expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Cheerleading Coach with all aspects of the cheerleading program.
- Help organize and supervise practices, performances, competitions, and team events.
- Support instruction in cheer fundamentals, sideline participation, stunting, tumbling, safety, and choreography.
- Promote positive sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and character development.
- Maintain high expectations for student conduct, attendance, academic performance, and athletic participation.
- Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, school staff, administration, and community members.
- Ensure compliance with all CHSAA rules, district policies, and athletic department procedures.
- Assist with the supervision of students during travel, practices, games, and school-sponsored activities.
- Help maintain equipment, uniforms, and program materials.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous cheerleading coaching or related experience preferred.
- Experience working with middle school and/or high school students preferred.
- Knowledge of cheerleading fundamentals, safety standards, and team development.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and administration.
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to serve as a positive role model for student-athletes.
Hold or be willing to obtain:
CHSAA Coaching Certification
CPR/First Aid Certification
Ability to follow district policies and CHSAA regulations.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of cheerleading techniques, safety expectations, and program management.
- Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, coaches, and school personnel.
- Commitment to professionalism, dependability, and student safety.
