GENERAL MANAGER
 Working directly with the two owners of this fast-paced and ever-growing landscape construction company based in the lovely community of Elmhurst, Illinois. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: Directs and coordinates scheduled projection requirements, quality
control, ensures a high level of service-to-customer relations, meets budget standards, assures
maximum use of service personnel, equipment, and materials, and assists maintenance
personnel in carrying out their responsibilities. Reports to the owner. May have Production or
Operations Managers as direct reports based on volume. Full responsibility for P & L

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following.

Financial
 Review and understand the Financial Organizer, and generates actual to budget reports
 Responsible for all department budgets: labor, material, admin.
 Manage account receivables
 Manage purchasing program
 Review monthly reports, and understand the P&L
 Understand cash flow requirements
 Responsible for implementing the Business Plan
 Responsible for Revenue Projections Client Management
 Establishes and oversees Client Contact Log
 Establishes and oversees Key Client Program
 Directs Client Survey Program
 Primary client contact person
 Establishes Maintenance and Enhancement budgets with clients
 First respondent to client requests
 Participates in local client-driven activities Employee Management
 Develops and implements recruiting strategy
 Establishes training program for all employees
 Performs supervisory training for key employees
 Establishes career paths for key employees
 Makes wage and compensation recommendations for all employees
 Reviews and assists with seasonal labor reductions
 Coordinates and communicates concerns between field and office
 Responsible for all disciplinary actions and procedures
 Responsible for crew morale, and develops morale boosters


Safety Management
 Establishes and documents all Safety Meetings for files
 Enforces compliance of all Safety Programs
 Acts as / or supervises Branch Safety Officer
 Develops Safety Programs as outlined in Safety Manual
 Monitors local state and federal safety laws, including OSHA
 Responsible for the Hazcom Program, and MSDS sheets for shop and vehicles
 Generate new sales through referrals
 Track all sales by type of work
 Establish labor and material budgets
 Monitors job performance with contract specifications
 Responsible for scheduling seasonal enhancement work
 Creates cash flow projections based upon labor and material expenses
 Implement Agronomic Programs with support from others
 Field Management
 Create and manage incentive programs
 Manage and revise Master Services Calendar based upon actual performance
Quality Control
 Set quality benchmarks utilizing the Quality Control Inspection Form
 Score jobs and post results
 Develop a quality program to address client satisfaction
 Verify job specifications to the Quality Control Program Equipment / Shop Management
 Verify crew equipment/tool inventories monthly and monitor the Preventative Maintenance Program
 Monitor equipment for life expectancy and implement replacement schedule on yearly budget
 Responsible for chemical storage
 Responsible for safe utilization of shop equipment, i.e. grinders, compressors, etc.
Office and Administrative
 May establish the office and administrative procedures
 Establishes a professional office environment
 Monitors office files for organization
 Reviews office needs on a yearly basis

 Establish and maintain core values per Branch Plan Responsible for Vision and
Mission statements

 

License and Permits
 Maintain Spray License
 Coordinate all licenses and permits with the office Brand and Compliance
 Responsible for Brand and Compliance expectations


 

GENERAL MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION

Miscellaneous
 Maintain all necessary licenses and certifications to perform all aspects of landscape
maintenance.
 Perform any other tasks necessary or requested by the owner to ensure a smooth
and profitable operation.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision,

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or
humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic
chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually
moderate.
