Position Overview

This is an exceptional opportunity for a culinary professional. Our current Executive Sous Chef of 2 years has accepted an Executive Chef position. Working as part of a team of F & B managers and reporting to the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef’s responsibilities include assisting in operations for a full-service F & B program that includes upscale-casual and formal dining, banquet operations, and resort-style concessions. F & B revenues exceed $2M for just 375 family memberships.


Club Facilities

Congress Lake is an exclusive private country club located in the greater Akron/Cleveland metropolitan area. The Club, one of the oldest in Ohio, has about 375 members and features a 900-acre property with 89 upscale residences; a Donald Ross designed golf course; 300-acre private lake for boating, sailing, and fishing; a resort-style swimming pool, racquet sports including 6 Har-Tru courts, 2 platform courts, and tennis facility; and a 50,000 square foot clubhouse with indoor and outdoor dining, banquet facilities, 8 overnight guest rooms, 2 kitchens, and other F & B outlets.

Position Duties

  • Embrace the Club’s Core Values and follow standard procedures for food and beverage operations
  • Proficiency in all kitchen positions including ala carte line operations, banquets and catering
  • Maintain the highest level of quality, freshness, presentation and innovation in all food products served
  • Maintains a sanitary, attractive, and orderly appearance in the kitchen and kitchen equipment
  • Supervises and trains staff
  • Enforces employee policies as set forth in the Employee Handbook
  • Maintains a professional image that represents The Congress Lake Club in and outside of the workplace


Position Qualifications

  • Personal traits: integrity, positive. creativity, extroverted, detail-oriented, & team-oriented,
  • Upscale ala carte dining and banquet/event experience
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Willingness to learn and grow professionally
  • Stable job history with a history of progressive career growth
  • Culinary degree preferred, not required

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting Base Salary of 60,000 or more DOE with annual performance and salary review
  • Health insurance with a 22.5% employee contribution for individual and family, supplemental insurance available for life, dental, vision, and other coverages

  • 401k plan with a 4% match (immediate vesting)
  • Three weeks Paid-Time off annually in February, and Sick pay with immediate vesting
