Grand Elk Golf Club is seeking a full-time Assistant Superintendent to help oversee the maintenance and construction of the golf course and ensure turf grass is repaired and maintained to established standards. The role supports a positive experience for members and guests while contributing to golf club operations.

  • Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree (AA), or equivalent from a four-year, two-year college, or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science.
  • Three to four years of related experience and/or training.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Pesticide Application License.
  • Ability to read and speak English to perform job duties and communicate with customers or co-workers.
  • Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.
  • Work with the Superintendent to ensure the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.
  • Supervise and assist maintenance staff in daily duties.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and directing the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
  • Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants.
  • Ensure construction equipment is properly maintained.
  • Assist in procuring supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations.
  • Keep records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assist with preparation of required reports.
  • Follow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible.
  • Reconcile and provide timely coding of invoices, payroll, and other required documents.
  • Coordinate snow removal depending upon facility location.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations.
  • Ensure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations.
  • Manage department members including Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
  • Provide effective orientation and training to new associates and develop ongoing training programs.
  • Monitor business volume forecast and plan accordingly for manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
