SUPERVISOR: Athletic Director BASIC FUNCTION: Provide direction, and supervision of the Sports Shooting program. The head coach will coordinate all facets of the Sports Shooting program, including but not limited to practice and meet organization, travel, recruiting, scheduling, budgeting, and fundraising. The coach will seek to develop positive relationships on campus and in the community. QUALIFICATIONS: Required Minimum of one year coaching and/or competing in Sport Shooting or significant experience. Certified or willing to obtain sports shooting coach certification. Understanding of gun safety and training techniques. Must possess a current driver's license valid in the State of Iowa and a driving record insurable by the College's insurer. Ability to obtain Commercial Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement. Basic computer skills. Travel, night and weekend hours required. Preferred Three years coaching and/or competing in Sports Shooting. Successful coaching and recruiting experience at the collegiate level. One-year experience with national and ICCAC policies, e.g. SCTP, etc. Bilingual in English and Spanish languages. DESIRED QUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS: 1. Strong leadership and ability to develop student-athletes both academically and athletically. 2. Strong verbal and written communication skills. 3. Ability to plan, organize, and manage time. 4. Strong human and public relation skills and positive, motivational attitude. 5. Ability to work independently as well as be a collaborative team player in completing tasks and meeting deadlines. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Responsible for direction and oversight of collegiate sports shooting program. 2. Ensure compliance with all NCC, SCTP, ICCAC, and rules and regulations. 3. Provide coaching and supervision for all practices, competitions, and events. 4. Establish team safety protocol to be followed by participants at each practice and competition. 5. Support the development of student-athlete's success in the classroom and on the field, providing appropriate mentoring to student-athletes. 6. Effectively communicate with prospective student-athletes from point of inquiry through enrollment coordinating recruitment efforts with Student Services. 7. Responsible for successful recruiting and retention of a full competitive roster of student-athletes accomplishing enrollment goals and roster expectations set by administration. 8. Work cooperatively in regard to scheduling and use of facilities on and off campus. 9. Coordinate team travel and transportation in conjunction with administration. 10. Possess ability and willingness to travel with team and drive student-athletes to practice and competitions. 11. Inventory and maintain team and college equipment, uniforms, and supplies. 12. Monitor Sport Shooting budget expenditures keeping within agreed upon budget plan each year. 13. Assist in the identification, hiring, training, and evaluation of assistants, including volunteers. 14. Identify organizations and funding sources that support Sports Shooting, and generate external funds as needed for program aspirations and budget augmentation while communicating with Foundation office. 15. Professionally represent NCC in the most positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, staff, and the community. 16. Initiate press releases and handle public relations associated with Sports Shooting program in conjunction with Marketing Department. 17. Attend statewide Sport Shooting coaching meetings and maintain good standing with the Scholastic Clay Target program (SCTP). 18. Maintain CPR and First Aid certification. 19.
