USD 381 Spearville is looking for a head and assistant HS football coach for the 2026-2027 sports season.

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Head and Assistant High School Football Coach to inspire student-athletes and foster a passion for sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and develop a competitive football program while promoting positive behavior, discipline, and physical fitness. The ideal candidate will bring energy, leadership, and a commitment to excellence both on and off the field. This paid position is integral to shaping the athletic experience and building a vibrant school community through sports.

Responsibilities

  1. Plan, organize, and execute effective football practices, drills, and game strategies that enhance player skills and team cohesion
  2. Mentor student-athletes in developing athletic abilities, sportsmanship, and leadership qualities
  3. Collaborate with school staff to coordinate schedules, events, and team activities that align with academic priorities
  4. Promote safety protocols during practices and games, including first aid readiness and injury prevention measures
  5. Foster a positive environment that encourages respect, discipline, and teamwork among players of diverse backgrounds
  6. Support the development of auxiliary teams such as cheerleading or climbing clubs that complement the football program
  7. Engage in behavior management to ensure student-athletes maintain focus, adhere to school policies, and demonstrate good conduct both on and off the field

Skills

  1. Proven experience in sports coaching with a strong background in football or related physical activities
  2. Knowledge of teaching physical education principles, martial arts such as Karate or Judo, swimming, climbing or cheerleading is highly desirable
  3. Ability to work effectively with students of varying ages, skill levels, and backgrounds while fostering motivation and confidence
  4. Strong understanding of behavior management techniques to promote discipline and positive conduct among young athletes
  5. Lifeguard experience or familiarity with health club/gym safety standards is a plus for promoting overall wellness initiatives
  6. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with students, parents, staff, and community members
  7. Passion for youth development through sports combined with a proactive approach to coaching excellence

Salary Information
