Summary

Grand Ledge High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our athletic department as a Varsity Girls Swim Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in competitive swimming, a commitment to fostering a positive team environment, and a desire to develop the skills and character of young athletes. This seasonal position offers the opportunity to lead and mentor high school swimmers, promoting both athletic excellence and personal growth.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive training program tailored to the abilities and goals of the varsity girls swim team.
• Organize and conduct daily swim practices, ensuring a safe and productive environment.
• Coach athletes in swimming techniques, strategies, and race preparation.
• Plan and oversee all aspects of the swim season, including scheduling practices, meets, and team events.
• Monitor and assess individual athlete performance, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
• Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude among team members.
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team policies, schedules, and expectations.
• Collaborate with other coaches and staff to enhance the overall athletic program at Grand Ledge High School.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant rules and regulations governing high school athletics.
• Promote the importance of academic success and balance with athletic commitments.

Requirements

• Previous coaching experience in swimming at the high school or competitive level is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of swimming techniques, training methods, and competitive strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification is required; lifeguard certification is a plus.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate practice and meet schedules.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• A commitment to the values of teamwork, discipline, and respect within the sport.
• Must pass a background check in accordance with school district policies.
