Job Title: Age Group Coach
Start Date: ASAP
Position Status: Part Time; M-F 4-6pm S 11-1

Pay: Negotiable and competitive based on experience
Description:
Humboldt Swim Club (HSC) is a yearlong non-profit youth sport organization, governed by a board of volunteers and led currently by the HSC Head Coach. HSC is currently looking for an Age Group Coach to work collaboratively and manage swim groups with our Head Coach to focus primarily on our swimmers 6 years old- 8th grade. The current swim groups are broken up into Developmental, Age Group 2 and Age Group 1 (6 years old-8th grade.) The Age Group Coach will serve as the team leader and administrator for training and competition for the Age Group athletes. To organize the age groups practices, motivating and instructing the athletes in strategies and techniques. To follow the procedures in accordance with HSC Policies and Bylaws.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Instruct lessons planned by Head Coach for swim and dryland practices
- Meet once a month to discuss periodization plan to ensure that the swimmers are progressing properly
- Instruct swimmers proper technique in the pool and occasional dryland practices
-Converse with swimmers about goal setting/ importance of work ethic
-Teaching swimmers important life lessons such as discipline, accountability, and self-responsibility. Not just as it pertains to -swimming, but other areas of their lives as well.
Administrative:
-Follow and execute the training program developed by the Head Coach.
-Communications representative for the Age Group athletes and families to report directly to the Head Coach.
-To participate in HSC team functions, meetings and fundraisers.
-To participate in a monthly coach meeting in collaboration with other group coaches.
-To help take the role of athletes at practice.
Coaching:
-To provide up to 16 hours of on deck, in water training at Arcata Community Pool and/or Cal Poly Humboldt for scheduled practices, meets or events.
-Group Practices fall within these times:
Monday-Friday: 4-7:30pm
Saturday: 11am-2pm
-To assist swimmers in reaching the highest level of achievement they desire and are capable of achieving.
-To maintain order, safety and discipline among the swimmers at practice and when appropriate at meets and team events in accordance with the HSC discipline policy as referenced by the HSC bylaws.
-To take education and safety courses required by USA Swimming, Humboldt Swim Club and the Head Coach. All required courses reimbursed by the Humboldt Swim Club.
Required Certifications (may be fulfilled after hire):
Current American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certifications
Current USA Swimming Coaching Certifications
Must pass background check
Minimum High school diploma or GED
