DREAM is seeking a high-capacity, student-centered leader to serve as a Co-Ed Soccer Head Coach for our High School competitive team. The Co-Ed Soccer Head Coach is the primary leader responsible for team culture, athlete development, safety, and program execution during all practices and games.

This role reports to the Dean of Student Life and serves as the on-site leader responsible for upholding all DREAM expectations, policies, and youth development standards.

Coaches are key members of the Athletics team and ensure the continued excellence, safety, and impact of DREAM’s sports-based youth development programs.

Responsibilities
  • Establish and lead a structured, accountable, and high-expectations team culture

  • Set and consistently reinforce standards for effort, behavior, sportsmanship, and accountability

  • Model strong judgment, professionalism, and composure in all settings

  • Serve as the primary decision-maker on-site, ensuring alignment with DREAM policies at all times

  • Intentionally develop athletes in:

    • Teamwork (accountability, role clarity, commitment to team success)

    • Sportsmanship (respect, integrity, and competitive character)

    • Self-regulation (emotional control, resilience, response to adversity)

  • Use high-pressure moments (competition, conflict, setbacks) to coach and reinforce these skills

  • Implement proactive and consistent behavior management aligned to DREAM expectations

  • Lead and support a structured study hall program, ensuring student-athletes meet academic expectations through supervision, guidance, and accountability

  • Design and submit weekly structured, high-quality practice plans in advance

  • Facilitate rigorous, engaging practices that prioritize skill development, conditioning, and teamwork

  • Lead all game-day preparation, strategy, and roster decisions with organization and clarity

  • Maintain active supervision at all times (constant scanning, positioning, and engagement)

  • Ensure safe arrival, transitions, and dismissal of all athletes

  • Uphold all safety protocols without exception

  • Take full ownership for the physical and emotional safety of all participants

  • Maintain accurate, real-time attendance for all practices and games

  • Communicate proactively and promptly with the Athletics Director regarding attendance, incidents, and program updates

  • Ensure full adherence to all internal protocols, including academic eligibility and behavior expectations

  • Exercise sound judgment and do not deviate from organizational policies or communication expectations

  • Escalate concerns and incidents in a timely and appropriate manner

  • Support Athletics with enforcement of academic eligibility requirements

  • Drive athlete recruitment, retention, and engagement

  • Manage roster, logistics, and team communication (in alignment with school and program expectations)

  • Ensure all program expectations are executed with consistency and follow-through

  • Maintain full alignment with DREAM leadership and school-based expectations

  • Execute responsibilities with consistency, urgency, and attention to detail

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of coaching experience required (high school experience strongly preferred)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead youth programs with structure, accountability, and rigor

  • Strong understanding of the sport’s rules, strategy, and skill development

  • Experience working with school-age children required

  • Ability to explicitly teach and reinforce youth development competencies

  • Previous competitive playing experience (high school and/or college) preferred

  • Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail

  • CPR/First Aid certification, a plus

Commitment
  • Start date: August 17

  • End date: November 30

  • Days & hours: Monday-Thursday, 3-6pm

  • Evening and weekend games

  • Dates and hours are subject to change

Location DREAM is hiring coaches for our DREAM Charter High School Location:
  • DREAM Charter High School: 20 Bruckner Blvd, Bronx, NY

  • Practices take place at the school, or in surrounding areas in East Harlem or the South Bronx. Game locations vary

Compensation

The rate for incoming Head Coaches is $45 per hour. The rate for incoming Head Coaches who are also DREAM full-time staff is a $4500 per season stipend. Coaches are eligible for annual compensation increases based on tenure, in accordance with DREAM’s compensation practices.
