Point University is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Softball Coach with a strong background in pitching and recruiting. The ideal candidate will assist in all aspects of the softball program, including coaching, recruiting, and player development. This position requires dedication to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes and adherence to the standards and regulations of Point University, the NAIA, and the Southern States Conference.
Key Responsibilities:
Pitching Coach Duties:
Develop and implement pitching strategies and training programs.
Conduct pitching practice sessions and provide individualized instruction to pitchers.
Analyze pitching performance and adjust techniques and strategies as needed.
Monitor pitchers' health and work with athletic trainers to prevent and address injuries.
Recruiting:
Identify and evaluate prospective student-athletes.
Coordinate and execute recruiting plans, including attending high school games, showcases, and tournaments.
Develop and maintain relationships with high school coaches, club coaches, and prospective student-athletes.
Assist with campus visits and the recruitment process, ensuring compliance with NAIA and Southern States Conference regulations.
Coaching and Player Development:
Assist in planning and conducting practices and games.
Provide feedback and instruction to enhance the skills and performance of all team members.
Support the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
Foster a positive and competitive team culture.
Administrative Duties:
Participate in fundraising and community outreach activities.
Ensure compliance with all Point University, NAIA, and Southern States Conference policies and regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Softball Coach.
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
Previous experience as a pitching coach at the collegiate level is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
