World Lacrosse Chief of Brand and Communications

World Lacrosse is the international governing body for men’s and women’s lacrosse, responsible for the governance and integrity of all forms of lacrosse and providing responsive and effective leadership to support the sport’s development throughout the world.


WL is seeking to hire a qualified individual for the position of Chief of Brand[EP1]  and Communications. Along with the necessary professional skills, the candidate should be good with people, enjoy a job with variety and challenge, and be comfortable working in a small office environment. Travel and weekend work will be required. The position is permanent, full-time, with competitive compensation and company-supported health, dental and life insurance benefits. Candidates will be considered based on a combination of their education, skills, experience and demonstrated work ethic. Desired start date of November 24. Purpose and Reporting


POSITION TITLE: Chief of Brand and Communications


REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer


LOCATION: World Lacrosse is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, but remote work place is acceptable 




The chief brand and communications officer will be an innovative leader with creative, strategic and financial acumen coupled with strong business intellect. The successful candidate will collaborate with the CEO and board of directors to develop our brand, drive enterprise revenue and profit goals, and take our business to the next level. The CBCO will be responsible for cultivating, developing and managing audience engagement to advance the mission and vision of WL. As the organizational leader in communications, public relations and media relations, this role is responsible for the management of all communication strategies, outreach programs and educational efforts to reach a wide array of audiences.




  • Build the WL brand identity and serve as its guardian. This responsibility involves conducting research to gain a thorough understanding of the competitive landscape and stakeholders' perceptions of World Lacrosse’s (WL) brand; establishing a unique value proposition and messaging statements; developing the brand's creative elements, and continually analyzing and refining these components; and ensuring adherence to the brand identity throughout the entire organization.
  • Direct the creation and execution of media strategies and PR programs to ensure quality media coverage. Specific to corporate matters, developing messaging and outreach activities for topics including but not limited to corporate social responsibility, health and wellness, corporate and personal philanthropic efforts, innovation, public policy, and other areas of strategic corporate significance.
  • Develop and execute global PR strategy/roadmap around WL’s key assets, including world championships and other created events, and digital offerings.
  • Create and execute tactical marketing plans that achieve revenue and profit targets. This responsibility involves establishing marketing campaigns with measurable and strong ROI in the areas of advertising, public relations, content marketing, email and direct mail marketing, social media, etc. The CBCO will also be responsible for the company website, database management, product marketing and pricing strategies.
  • Direct the company's relationships with key top-of-line press and social media influencers and bloggers, as well as direct relationships with trade press/influencers in support of business communications.
  • Identify and partner with creative agencies and vendors. This responsibility involves deciding what services are needed from a creative partner, determining a budget and selection criteria, then choosing the right partner and collaborating on pre-established deliverables, while holding the agency accountable for costs and timelines.
  • Establish, communicate, monitor and manage KPIs and financials. This responsibility involves collaborating with the WL CEO to develop the annual budget and KPIs.

The qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • 10+ years of communications leadership experience in high-paced, competitive sport business environment
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent is required; advanced degrees are desired
  • Proven experience building brands and executing tactical marketing communications plans to drive increased revenue
  • Personal interest in lacrosse, sports and Olympics
  • Ability to travel and work on weekends
