Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

Responsible to assist with the management of a competitive NCAA Division I Womens Basketball program; assists with conditioning, practices, recruiting, academic monitoring and operational logistics. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

In conjunction with the Head Coach, plans and executes a successful program that would include duties such as: conducting regular team practice sessions; coaching the student athletes, evaluating athletes performance in practice and competition; monitoring the conditioning and training of student athletes, advises and counsels student athletes regarding their obligations to comply with all rules and regulations related to financial aid and eligibility, as well as personal conduct and academics.
45% Arranges and conducts recruiting functions including off- and on-campus visits, evaluations and contacts of prospective student-athletes. Assist in on-campus recruiting efforts; help arrange official and unofficial visits and serve as direct contact for participating constituents on campus
35% Performs administrative tasks such as academic monitoring, coordinating travel arrangements, ordering of equipment, scouting and film breakdown of opponents. Attends coaches preparatory meetings and implements strategies resulting from these meetings. Build and construct non-conference game schedule on a yearly basis; negotiates and put together game contracts. Assist in the cultivation and stewardship of program donors. Assist with any possible issues or opportunities pertaining to compliance, sports information, sports medicine, marketing, housing, food services, security, etc.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: (indicate required or preferred)
Bachelors degree is required; Masters Preferred.
Years of Experience (required or preferred number of years and in which specific areas)
Prior coaching experience at the college sports level or as a collegiate athlete.
Certification and/or Licensure
First Aid, CPR, AED Required (or willingness to obtain).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to act with honesty and sportsmanship at all times so that intercollegiate athletics as a whole, the university and they as individuals, represent the honor and dignity of fair play and the generally recognized high standards associated with wholesome competitive sports.
Solid knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
Ability to handle highly confidential material and maintain strict confidence.
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures and have knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the swimming and diving program.
Ability to successfully recruit and retain student athletes.
Skilled in exemplary customer service, including dealing effectively with the students, faculty, staff, and general public both in person and over the telephone.
Ability to maintain professionalism when dealing with all staff and other customers and possess the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity to the needs of all prospective as well as current students.
Excellent writing skills and the demonstrated ability to develop written reports and action plans. Good organizational, oral and recruiting skills.
Ability to work effectively, decisively and flexibly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Ability to identify problems and to propose feasible solutions.
Strong organizational skills, ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of, or ability to stay current with technologies.
Ability to lead and guide student-athletes in area of specialty.
Ability to travel with the team and monitor the conduct of student athletes.
Ability to accept and provide effective supervision, assignments, change and correction.

Working Conditions / Physical requirements

Frequent walking, standing, and other physical activities. Extensive travel locally and nationally. Regular exposure to gym and athletic venues with accompanying hazards. Long, irregular work hours including evening, weekend and holiday hours. Will need to be available early mornings, evenings and weekends.
